Profession names from Swedish
Profession names that come from Sweden end with a -ri.
Lääkäri - Doctor
Insinööri - Engineer
Parturi - Barber
Leipuri - Breadmaker
Suutari - Shoemaker

In Finnish professions are normally composed of the verb plus the suffix -ja / -jä
Opettaja - Teacher
Myyjä - Salesman
Laulaja - Singer

Tanssija - Dancer
Pankkivirkailija on työssä pankissa. A bank works in a bank.
Lääkäri on työssä sairalassa. A doctor works in a hospital.
Tarjoilija on työssä ravintolassa. The waiter works in a restaurant.
Kirjastonhoitaja on työssä kirjastossa. The librarians works in a library.
Merikapteeni on työssä laivassa. The marine captain works on a ship.
Konduktööri on työssä junassa. The conductor works on a train.
Puutarhuri on työssä puutarhassa. The gardener works in a garden.
Leipuri on työssä leipomossa. The baker works in a bakery.
Lipunmyyjä on työssä lipputoimistossa. The ticket vendor works at the ticket office.
Kokki on työssä keittiössä. The chef in a kitchen.
Näyttelijä on työssä teatterissa. The actress works in the theater.
