How to create a successful crowdfunding campaign

How to create a successful crowdfunding campaign:

The number one thing to keep in mind is that the success of your campaign is based on prep. A lot of campaigns are unsuccessful and the number one reason is that they were not prepared.

Campaigns are composed by a series of elements that are pretty much indispensable.
Primary elements:

  1. Video, the video is the most important element to your crowdfunding campaign, This is where the audience will get to know you and your project. It is important to connect with the audience and in order to do this, you should tell a story. The first 30 seconds of the video are the most important, if you are unable to hook somebody within these first 30 seconds of the video you will have probably lost them. The most efficient way to structure the video is:
    1. Hook: First 30 seconds
    2. Story: From 30 seconds to about 2:30
    3. Passion: This is where you express why you want to achieve the project. 2:30 to 3:30
    4. Ask: Then you would ask for people’s help in achieving this goal. From 3:30 to end.
  2. Stretch goal: After the campaign reaches its goal, you would add the stretch goal immediately after the video. In other words, once funded, ask more.
  3. Story: In writing you further develop the story of why you want to do the project and what has brought you there.
  4. About Section, this is where you place the elements that refer to your campaign.
  5. Team: This is the section where the team members are introduced. It must show that you are qualified to pull the project off.

Video examples:

Secondary elements:
Header images and designed banners are extremely important. They not only help organize all the information so that it is clear what it is you are reading, but also they reinforce the brand.

Perks: It is important to research the perks, have an awareness of their cost, including shipping and then make sure that you make a profit

Techniques to increase your chances of success:
Early bird. It is great to factor in an early bird type perk free stuff for example, this will allow your first days of the campaign to perform well which can determine the fate of your campaign.

Share button: It is always great to insert a share button and incentivize people to share your campaign with their friends. You can incentivize by giving away free stuff, for example an ebook.

Ask for help (30-20 technique). Personally ask 30 of your friends, family or acquaintances to tell 20 friends about your campaign.

Email: Write hyper personalized emails to increase your campaign awareness.

This is what works for successful campaigns:
Facebooks works over twitter. Instagram and linkedin are also good tools.
You must spend a lot of time on social media. The more time you spend on it and the more you work it, the higher your chances of success.

APPS Principle:
Authenticity: Be yourself. Never try to be someone you are not.
Passion: Make it personal, be passionate, connect with your audience.
Personalization: Think who your audience is and cater to them.
Specificity: Be specific, clear and concise. Your requests must be concrete. Your product must clearly distinguish between features vs benefits. Features is for example horsepower but benefit is about value, and this sells most than anything.
