What country are you from?
Juan on espanjalainen
Abdul on egyptiläinen
If the country ends with a, o or u then the “a” in -lainen will be an “a”, however if the country does not end with a, o or u then it will be “ä” so you will add -läinen. Espanja ends with an “a” so “from Spain” will be Espanjalainen. Egypt has no a, o or u so it will be egyptiläinen.

Espanja on maa, espanja on kieli. Minä puhun Espanja.
Spain is a country, Spanish is a language. I speak spanish.

Suomen presidentti on Sauli Niinistö.
The president of Finland is Sauli Niinistö.
When you add the “n” to suomi, which is Finland and conjugate it to Suomen it means “of Finland”. The “n” is “of”. So for example “Pekka’s Car” you would say “Pekan auto”. The car of Pekka.


Suomen pääministeri on Juha Sipilä.  

The prime minister of Finland is Juha Sipilä.
